Pristas Awarded Autumn Fellowship Residency @ PLAYA.

Oct. 24, 2015

I am delighted to announce that I have been awarded a one month residency at Playa Summer Lake located in the Oregon outback. Playa sits on the shore of Summer Lake, a mostly dry alkali bed. Summer Lake, 20 miles long and five miles wide, is a playa, a seasonal desert lake. It is shallow in the winter, and evaporates in the summer. At the north end of Summer Lake, the state-owned Summer Lake Wildlife Area is one of the finest desert wetlands in Oregon. It is a destination for birds and birders year-round. PLAYA offers selected creative individuals the space, and solitude to create on its 55-acre campus. A rotating panel of artists, writers, scientists and other professionals selected Pristasís proposal from a pool of applicants. While in residency Pristas will focus on creating a new body of abstract landscape paintings abstract monotypes and encaustics during her autumn 2015 residency.
